2-day 7th R.C Chopra Memorial National Moot Court Competition was today inaugurated

Jalandhar March 1 (Jaswinder Azad)- 2-day 7th R.C Chopra Memorial National Moot Court Competition was today inaugurated by Justice Vinod Sharma in St. Soldier Law College. 32 teams from 16 States /UTs of the country viz Assam, Chhatisgarh, Tamil Nadu,Telengana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pardesh,UttarPardesh,Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Odisha, Haryana,J&K,HP and Punjab are participating in the Competition.The representing Institutions include National Law Universities, Private universities of reputelike Amity Symbosis,CentralUntvesities like DU, Punjab Universitiy,State universities and law colleges affliated to various universities like this MDU,KU etc. The competition referes to a legal problem of matrimorial nature involving the Jurisdiction of an American Courts, Each team (Presents the case from both sides Earlier the teams Submitted their cases (Memorials) to the host institution, which are evaluared by a Judicial Officer. On the basis of five rounds of the competition, the winner and 1st runner up teams shall be identifield. tomorrowby a Division Bench consisting of Mr. Justice AB Chaudhary and Justice Vinod Sharma. In addition,the Best Student Advocate and Best Researcher will also be awarded cash prizes and trophies.
While inaugnrating the Competition Justice Vinod Sharma appreciated the effort of St. Soldier Law College. Under lining the importance of moot competitions, he said better advocates can be produced by such exercises during students hip. He gave practical tips for becomegood and success for lawyers. Dr. T.S. Benipal Dean Colleges of GNDU was the guest of honour. He lauded the effort of St. Soldier Law College, which he said, was worth emulating by GNDU and other Colleges. The group chairman Sh. Anil Chopra welcomed guests and teams. The College Director Dr.S.C Sharma gave an account of the competition. Mrs.SimiThind conducted the stage.
