Jalandhar October 3 (Jaswinder Azad)- PG department of dance of Apeejay College of Fine Arts organized a three day workshop on Kathak. Renowned Kathak dancer – performer Pt. Anuj Mishra featured as the resource person for the same. Mishra, an internationally renowned Kathak artiste, has performed across the globe in the countries like England, Tunisia, USA, France, Germany, Spain, Lebanon, Dubai and Canada. Deservedly conferred with the ‘Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, Mishra is also a Member of reputed Cultural bodies International Dance Council and ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations). His philosophy is if Government takes due care through scholarships, youth can be channelized towards preserving cultural heritage of India. In the three-day workshop, the students learnt about the dance forms Rukhsaar, Tarana, Tihai and Torrey and performed the same on the concluding day of the workshop.
College Principal Dr. Sucharita considered it inspiring to witness an internationally awarded artist perform on stage. The workshop concluded with felicitation of the supreme artist. Efforts of Dr. Micky Verma from Department of Dance were lauded for making the workshop a success.
