5 Day UGC-CPE Faculty Development Program Concludes at KMV

Jalandhar December 15 (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya – The Heritage and Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar has organized a 5 day UGC-CPE Faculty Development Program on ”Innovations and Latest Developments in Academia and Research”. The 5 Day FDP successfully concluded with the scholars and academicians enlightening the participants about the Teaching-Learning Methods. The inaugural session of the final day was addressed by Dr. A.K. Bakshi, Vice Chancellor, PDM University, Bahadurgarh, Haryana . The topic of his talk was ICT-enabled Higher Education in India: Challenges & Opportunities”. During his session, Dr Bakshi enlightened about the current Higher Education scenario in India. Stating the facts, he told the participants that India has the third largest education system in the world, but still there are lots of hurdles and problems that Indian education system is facing. He claimed that most of the study done in the education shows that school students are spoon-fed only and that is the reason these students doesn’t show any scientific temper in their adulthood. Dr Bakshi emphasized on the fact that there has not been any modernization in the syllabus of our Universities and that is the reason that our students doesn’t show innovative bent of mind. He stressed that Teacher is the pivot of our education system & it is a fact that an institution is ultimately as good as its faculty. During the end of his session, he also gave various tips as to how to excel as a Teacher.
The second session of the day was also addressed by Dr Vimal Rarh, Joint Director, Guru Angad Dev Teaching-Learning Centre for MHRD. During her session, Dr Rarh demonstrated to the participants the structure of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and emphasized on the fact that MOOC is not an auto play program, but it provides an equal opportunity for both the teacher as well as the student. She also shared in her presentation the various stages in the development of E-content and also highlighted the concept of E-pathshala in the present times. She also stressed on the fact that there is a great role that Indian government plays in order to promote and popularize the concept of MOOCs in our country . The valedictory session was conducted after the lunch break. The Guest of Honor for the Valedictory session was Mr. Chandra Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi gave floral welcome to Mr. Chandra Mohan. Mrs. Neerja Chandra Mohan, Member, KMV Managing Committee was also one of the esteemed guests present during the valedictory session. During his valedictory address, Mr. Chandra Mohan emphasized on the fact that a teacher should be modern as well a traditionalist in its approach. It is the duty of a teacher to imbibe the noble values in his student as a good student can become a good citizen of the nation. He further stressed on the fact that a teacher has to be a Guru to his student if he wants to be a good teacher .Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV in its pursuit to excellence believe in doing best to enhance quality education. She further emphasized that we need to have self-confidence, self-esteem to be the nation builders and it is the duty of the teacher to always strive to learn more and more. She congratulated the organizing committee for the successful organization of this 5 day FDP. The Vote of Thanks was given by Mrs Suman Khurana, HOD,PG Department of Computer Science & Applications.
