550th Gurpurab Celebration of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, respectfully commenced at Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar January 30 (Jaswinder Azad)- A year-long series of programs and functions dedicated to the 550th Gurpurab Celebration of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, respectfully commenced at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar. This momentous series of events started with a guest lecture delivered by renowned Punjabi scholar Dr. Satish Kumar Verma. College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra welcomed Dr. Verma to the college and informed the audience about his contribution to Punjabi literature and also highlighted his immense knowledge of Punjabi way of life. Head of the Punjabi department, Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar introduced the facades of the series of programs planned by the college to respectfully mark the historic 550th Gurpurab celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and to spread his multi-faceted teachings to the humanity. On this occasion, Dr. Satish Kumar Verma delivered an eloquent lecture based on the life, teachings and the revolutionary philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji which also included 24 years of his life span dedicated to journeys far around the geographical locations with the sole purpose of enlightening people all around the world. It was also mentioned that Guru Nanak Dev Ji based his teachings and views as per the scientific temperament and inspired people to come out of the traditional rituals, illogical beliefs and the dark superstitions of the time. On behalf of the college, Principal Dr. GS Sumra duly honoured Dr. Satish Kumar Verma. The program was also witnessed by Dr Harjinder Singh, Coordinator Punjabi Folklore and Culture Centre, Dr. Sukhdev Singh Nagra, Co-ordinator, Centre for Punjabi Language Development and Dr. Surinderpal Mand, Coordinator Punjab Centre for Migration Studies and other faculty members of the college.
