A phenomenal close to International Conference INBIX-2019 at HMV

Jalandhar February 23 (Jaswinder Azad)- The second day of the two day International Conference on Bioinformatics organized in collaboration with Bioclues and under the proficient directions of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, witnessed the presence of Shri Haja Kadarmideen, Technical University of Denmark as a keynote speaker. He gave his views on Bioinformatics and Systems Biology emphasizing on the issue of obesity as a genetic problem. He said that around 70% cases of obesity are linked with genetics of a person. There is a strong connection of the infant’s weight during birth and ailments at old age. He further shared his opinion on personalized medicines and agricultural bioinformatics. Sh. Sivaramaiah Nallapeta, Nanotemper Technologies talked about Microscale Thermophoresis in Drug Discovery. He explained how the quality of protein can be checked in three minutes. Sh. Asif M. Khan chaired the technical session I. Sh. V.S. Sundarajan, MEA Singapore, Big Data: Applications Board (SERB) – Empowering basic research in India highlighted various aspects of his topic. Dr. Sarinder Kaur, University of Malaya, Malaysia: Data Science in Healthcare: The University Malaya Medical Centre Breast Cancer Ecosystem shared her knowledge on Breast Cancer and its effects.
This is worth mentioning that 70 abstracts have been received from various researchers who presented their work in form of oral talks, video abstract talks, poster stub talks and hanging posters. Mr. Harpreet Singh, HOD Bioinformatics told that under the leadership of Prof. S. Venkatramana, 8 students from Management and Science University Malaysia presented a video abstract from Malaysia.
After lunch, technical session II was facilitated by Dr. Pooran Singh Solanki, EISR, Jaipur and he elaborated on the topic Protein Ligand Complexes. Mr. Mohammad Kausar Neyaz delivered on Artificial Intelligence approach in identifying cervical pre-cancer. Ms. Kalpna Singh, Mr. Sankha Subhra Das, Mr. Himanshu Singh and Ms. Isha Monga gave oral presentations.
The Valedictory session was chaired by Dr. T.S. Benipal, Dean, College Development Council, GNDU Amritsar. He congratulated the college for hosting this inspiring intra disciplinary conference. Such conferences in the field of Bioinformatics serve as a golden platform to scholars and researchers to enhance their knowledge. The conference concluded on thanks giving note by Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. She congratulated the department of Bioinformatics for the efficient organization of the conference.
The best poster stub talk prize was awarded to Ms. Nupur and Ms. Manjula from JP University of Information Technology, HP. The best poster prize was presented to Supreet Singh, GNDU Amritsar, Ekta Gupta, Dr. B.Lal Institute of Biotechnology, Jaipur and Dr. Sakshi Verma, HMV Jalandhar. The judges of the event included Sh. Vijay Gahlaut, Sh. Parkash Mishra, Sh. Raj Kumar Gothwal, Sh. Pooran Singh Solanki and Sh. Sugunankae Vuree. On this occasion, Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Mrs. Deepshikha, Dr. Ekta Khosla, Mrs. Saloni Sharma, Mrs. Purnima, Dr. Nitika Kapoor, Dr. Shaveta Chauhan, Dr. Jitender Kumar, Mrs. Asha Gupta, Mr. Sushil Kumar, Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur, Dr. Sakshi Verma, Ms.Simmi Garg, Ms. Harpreet, Ms. Shashi Kala and other members of the faculty of sciences also graced the event with their presence. Stage was conducted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia.
