Annual Prize Distribution Function in Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar March 28 (Jaswinder Azad)- Excitement, jubilation and joy marked the occasion of the Annual Prize Distribution Function of Lyallpur Khalsa College wherein over 380 students of the college excelling in academics and co-curricular activities at university level were honoured for their achievements. Giving away prizes to the achievers the Chief Guest Sh. B.Purushartha IAS, Commissioner, Jalandhar Division, Jalandhar said that he was experiencing a sense of joy and pride on honouring the winners, and added that he was impressed with the performance of the college in different areas. Congratulating the prize winners, he asked them to contribute to the society by helping to remove ignorance, intolerance and poverty from the country through their hardwork use of technology and innovation.
S. Jaspal Singh Waraich Joint Secretary, College Governing Council welcomed the Chief Guest and reiterated the commitment of the college to quality education. He informed the present that the college was making special efforts in educating women; as a result around 40 % of total student strength was constituted by women students.
The College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra presented the annual report of the college, highlighting the key achievements of the college in Academics and Sports, including the winning of Zonal Youth festival and Inter-college flower show trophies of the University. He informed that the college had introduced four new courses in the previous year and it was going to introduce five more courses namely M.Voc, B.Com (Accountancy), Diploma in Professional Accountancy, Certificate Course in French and Fine Arts as a subject in BA in the coming session. On this occasion, tokens of appreciation were awarded to as many as 13 teachers of the college for their academic achievements and outstanding contribution to research.
The prestigious Roll of Honour on this occasion was awarded to Sakshi, Mansa Singh and Suryabhanu Pratap in Academics, Co-curricular and Sports categories respectively. Two non-teaching employees Sh. Mohan Lal (LA) and Sh. Amarjit (Mali) were also honoured for their dedication and sincerity to the institution and their duty. Vote of thanks on the occasion was presented by Prof Jasreen Kaur, Dean Academic Affairs of the College.
The occasion was witnessed by the distinguished presence of S. Jagdeep Singh Shergill, (Members Governing Council), Master Mohinder Singh and the staff. The stage was well managed by Prof Mansi Chopra and Prof. Jaspreet Bains.
