CT Group holds session on Legal Awareness on Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances

Advocate Vikrant Rana aware CT students about punishments on unethical use of drugs
Jalandhar October 29 (Jaswinder Azad)- CT Group of Institutions organized a session on Legal awareness on Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances for the young students. The Chief Guest for the occasion remained Rana Gurjeet Singh, MLA Kapurthala and former Punjab Cabinet Minister along with Guest of Honor Navjot Singh Mahal, SSP Rural. Amandeep Mittal, Director North International Human Rights Organisation.
The session was conducted by Advocate Vikrant Rana from International Human Rights Organization and Legal Advisor Punjab State along with Neha Puri, a renowned writer.
A renowned speaker, Vikrant Rana explained about the unethical use of narcotics and how to protect yourself from such situations, and also explained that addiction to narcotic substances is the real problem of the state as well for the youth. He said, “Most of the youth is indulged into it without knowing their demerits in capacity to Law. Sometimes youth or even matured person consume or use such substances unknowingly.” He further informed students about the various punishments for the people who consume/use it illegal purposes. He said, “If a person produces, manufactures, purchase, transport or even import or export it any sort of drug in a small quantity, then he will be penalized with one year of imprisonment or fine up to Rs. 10,000 or both. Similarly, if more than small quantity, but less than commercial quantity then imprisonment up to 10 years or fine up to Rs. 1 Lakh.”
Neha Puri explained about psychological reasons of Drug Abuse and said that the addiction is enjoyable but wrong addiction is a serious concern and one must have a control over his brain by making a purpose or a goal of life which will divert one’s mind to the right path.
Rana Gurjeet Singh, Former Cabinet Minister and MLA Kapurthala addressed the young students and covered various aspects ranging from history, politics, administration, ethics, moral values and technology on a serious note. He stated that the current government under the leadership of Amarinder Singh has done a herculean task in breaking the backbone of the drug mafia and drug peddlers but a lot still has to be done. He further said, “No goal can be achieved without the active participation of youth and a vision for holistic development of nation.”
The Guest of Honor Navjot Mahal, SSP Rural Jalandhar expressed his gratitude towards CT Group for holding this illuminating session for the youth. He inspired and motivated students to come forward and defend the society bravely against the social evils which are eating up the society’s culture, prosperity and existence.
Charanjit S Channi, Chairman CT Group thanked the guests for conducting this session and motivating students for focusing on their dreams and making their career rather than involving in social evils especially drug abuse.
