Jalandhar February 1 (Jaswinder Azad)- As a noted educationist of the region, Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, Principal Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar gave his reaction on the annual financial budget presented by the Government of India. Dr. Samra described this budget as inadequate for the middle class and the teaching community along with the students of the nation as well. However, Principal Dr. Samra lauded the tax exemption relief on gratuity which has been increased from Rs. 10 lakh to 30 lakh and also the relief given to the middle class by increasing the TDS limit on bank interest from 10,000 to 40,000 rupees. Similarly, the increase in standard deduction for working class public and a complete exemption from tax for people under the annual income of rupees 500,000 was also mentioned as some of the key components of this budget. The Government of India has also promised to convert 100,000 villages of the nation into digital villages in the next five years. Overall, Principal Dr. Samra appreciated some of the key announcements made through this budget but pointed out the overlooking of teaching community and the students as the main deficient factor of the same. Principal Dr. Samra has suggested a proper representation in the annual budget for the education sector and the teaching community, which has regularly been on the periphery.
