GNA University becomes part of IIRS-ISRO Programme

Jalandhar 21 September (Jaswinder Azad)- GNA University has added another feather in its cap by becoming the part of IIRS Outreach Programme. The IIRS outreach programme is being conducted through following two major modes:
1. Live and Interactive classroom sessions (also known as EDUSAT) and
2. E-learning based online courses.
With number of satellites in operation today, IRS is the largest civilian remote sensing satellite constellation in the world providing imagery in a variety of spatial, spectraland temporal resolutions through series of satellites like Resourcesat, Oceansat, Cartosat, RISAT, Megha-Tropiques, etc. Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun is one of the units of ISRO to realize the Indian space vision, as a key player, in capacity building for successful implementation of Earth Observation (EO) programme for societal benefits.
Various IIT’s and premier institutes are already part of IIRS Programme. GNA University now is one of the few institutes from Punjab which has become part of this great initiative. Pro Chancellor Gurdeep Sihra congratulated GNA University and its staff for initiating such a grandiose step towards developing skills of our youth in geospatial technologies and its applications. Dr. V.K. Rattan said that initiatives like these will help students in facing the outer world with confidence.
Dr. Vikrant Sharma, who is the pioneer behind this step for GNA University told that it will aid in making India digital by e-learning process which is set by Our Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr. Prabhjeet Singh has been designated as the official coordinator for this Programme.
The live and interactive mode of learning is through Internet and A-view software platform developed by Amrita e-learning Lab in collaboration with Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India. The live classroom session are being conducted during 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM on daily basis through state of art studio facility setup in the University.
