Government Girls Senior Secondary School Nehru Garden Starts ‘Breakfast Scheme’ For Needy Students

Unique initiative aimed at ensuring holistic development of the students
Jalandhar October 26 (Jaswinder Azad)- With an aim to improve the health of school children by providing them nutritious diet, the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Nehru Garden has come up with a program titled ‘ Healthy Breakfast’ for needy students who attend the classes without having morning meals.
The program was inaugurated by Mrs Praveen Sharma, wife of deputy commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma along with the school’s principal Mrs Gurinderjeet Kaur and Mrs Darshana Rani. On the occasion, Mrs Darshana Rani said under this scheme, such children would be offered fruits, milk, Porridge (Dalia) and etc.
She told that some of the students do not take breakfast regularly which hits their health badly. Such students also get unable to concentrate on the study, she added.
Meanwhile, she asserted that the program would also help to increase the attendance in the classes and punctuality among the students.
Sharma, wife of deputy commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma appreciated the school management for launching the program. She said that it would help in ensuring holistic development of the needy students especially from the weaker and underprivileged sections of society. She said that the unique initiative was a step forward towards ensuring quality education to children along with sound health.
