HMV organized Seminar on “Nanoscience and Nanoscale”

Jalandhar December 1 (Jaswinder Azad)- Chandrayaan Vipnet club of Physics Department, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, organized a seminar on the topic of “Nanoscience and Nanoscale”. Dr. Inderpreet Kaur, Senior Scientist, Ubiquitous Analytical Techniques and RnD Support CSIO Chandigarh, was the resource person for the seminar. Madam Principal Prof. (Dr.) Mrs. Ajay Sareen welcomed the resource person with a planter. Mrs. Saloni, H.O.D. Physics department, introduced the resource person to the students. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Sareen encouraged the students to have the benefits from the vast experience of the resource person and opt for research in different fields of Science. She also congratulated the physics department for organizing erudite lecture.
Dr. Inderpreet informed the students about the unique properties of Nanoparticles and various factors responsible for their amazing properties. She also explained about Quantum well, Quantum wire and Quantum dot and how electron confinement leads to different optical properties. She explained about the applications of Quantum dots as florescent markers for biomedicines, as composites, as conducting channels and high surface area sensors for better diagnosis of diseases even by blood test. She added Nanotechnology as inter-disciplinary field which includes material science, chemistry, biology, engineering, medicines and communication areas. She demonstrated how nanotechnology can be used for improving the quality of Commercial products like Self-healing material, Bucky Paper, Super dry surface, Nano fuel cells and Cosmetics.
Faculty members of Physics department honoured the resource person with a painting. About 120 students of B.Sc were benefited by the seminar.
