HMV pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on 150th Birth Anniversary

Jalandhar October 3 (Jaswinder Azad)- A special prayer was organized by the resident scholars of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.)Ajay Sareen. The programme started with the DAV Gaan. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen was welcomed by Programme Incharge Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Associate Prof. in Pol.Sc., Dean Student Council Mrs. Urvashi Mishra, Office Supdt. Amarjit Khanna, Supdt. General Mr. Raman Behl, Mr. Pankaj Jyoti, Supdt. Accounts and Hostel Supdt. Mr. Lakhwinder Singh. Dr. Rajiv Kumar told the students about the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. He said that UN celebrates this day as ‘International Day of Non-violence’ . On the occasion, a short movie named ‘the other pair’ was shown to the students. Dr. Prem Sagar, Associate Prof. in Music Vocal and the students of Music Department recited Bhajan. Student Varanjit of B.A. also recited a poem on the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
Principal Prof. Dr.(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen emphasized on the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi of ‘simple living and high thinking’. She encouraged the students to show their good behaviour rather than indulging in materialistic world. She advised students to be strong and determined like Mahatma Gandhi. On this occasion, Dr. Kuldip Kaur, Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Ms. Simmi, Mr. Ashish Chadha, Miss Rani Chandi, Mr. Ravi Kumar, Hostel Warden Mrs. Kiran Bhambri, Mr. Arvind Chandi and other members of teaching and non-teaching staff were present.
