Jalandhar January 12 (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Heritage and Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar celebrated the festival of Lohri with full enthusiasm and joy. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr Pargat Singh (MLA Jalandhar Cantt Constituency). The Principal of K.M.V. Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the guests and wished all the guests, students and faculty success, prosperity and lots of good cheer in all the years to come and averred that KMV have always been a forerunner in providing the quality education to the girls. The institution also honored the mess workers and multi tasking staff on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Mr Pargat Singh said that the society is progressing at a very fast pace and in the present scenario gender discrimination should be completely put to an end. He further said that the boys and girls both have equal potential and that they should be given equal opportunities for growth. Stressing on the quality of education in KMV, Mr Pargat said that KMV being one of the oldest institute of women education have always strive to provide the best quality education to the students and in the process of making the women self dependant and self reliant, KMV has become the best example of women empowerment in the country. Students on the chilly but sunny afternoon enjoyed peanuts, jaggery and other traditional sweets. They also danced to the cultural songs and infused the whole environment with lots of joy and energy. The eminent members of KMV Managing Committee Dr Satpal Gupta, Dr Kamal Gupta, Mrs Sushila Bhagat and Mrs Neeru Kapoor were also present on the occasion. Madam Principal congratulated Mrs Seema Jain, Dr Madhumeet and Dr Gurjot Kaur for the successful organization of the event.
