KMV Organizes Awareness Campaign on Anaemia Prevention

AnaemiaJalandhar September 28 (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Ranked No.1 College in India by India Today ranking organized an awareness campaign for the students on Anaemia prevention. The camp was organized by the department of Home Science. The campaign was launched under ‘Poshan Maah’. On the occasion, Dr Sukhdeep Kaur from the department of Health and Family Welfare delivered a lecture on the importance of personal hygiene and proper nutrition in prevention of anaemia. She informed the students that the cases of anaemia in Punjab is very alarming (over 50%). The deficiency of iron is also prevalent in males. She also educated the students regarding the causes, symptoms, treatment and prevention of anaemia. She emphasized on the importance of good nutrition over pharmacological supplementation. Low cost seasonal, iron and folic acid rich recipes were also discussed during the lecture. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that these types of campaigns are essential to spread the awareness for living a healthy life. She further maintained that more such programs should be organized for the uplifitment of the spiritual and emotional well being of human beings and society as a whole.
