KMV organizes Faculty Development Programme

Jalandhar 21 September (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya – the Autonomous & Heritage institution’s IQAC organized a Faculty Development Program on ”Autonomous Colleges: Concept and Functioning” with Dr Sarbjit Singh Chahal, Former Vice Chancellor Maharana Partap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, Former Vice Chancellor Desh Bhagat University, Punjab and Prof. Emeritus, Punjab University, Chandigarh as the resource person. In his PowerPoint presentation, Dr Chahal enumerated the highlights of the autonomous system and he congratulated the KMV faculty for becoming the first autonomous women institution of Punjab. He lauded KMV for making a colossal contribution to the educational arena as it has been forging ahead in excellence in academics with the new initiatives and reforms for the growth of development of students. Under autonomy KMV has been all the more contributory by designing and reframing course curriculum as per the contemporary needs of the student community. The examination reforms under autonomy exhibit a student friendly approach. He was very appreciative of the KMV Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi & the faculty for painstakingly introducing the student friendly reforms which will provide an apt platform to the students to display their brilliance, hard work and intellect. The aim is to provide complete justice to students and also to evaluate them in a flawless manner. The erudite scholar further maintained that the various statutory and non-statutory bodies like Board of Studies, Academic Council, Governing Body, Finance Committee, Grievance Committee, Planning & Evaluation Committee et al give their valuable inputs to ensure that the standards of excellence continues to be maintained in an autonomous institutions like KMV. He was very appreciative of the various Board of Studies organized at KMV which resulted in the introduction of 21 new courses during which the nitty gritty of each course was taken into keen considerable while designing the syllabus. The valuable contribution of Academic Council also was acknowledged by Dr Chahal as they play pivotal role in the execution of examination and education reforms. He further averred that the introduction of Module based Moral Education Program, Foundation Program and other credit based programs will benefit the students a lot. Dr Chahal guided the teachers to introduce international credit system in more courses from the coming sessions as it will be more relevant in times to come. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi thanked the luminous speaker for highlighting the benefits of autonomy and appreciating KMV for up gradation of syllabi and other reforms which have been carried out after considerable deliberations. She averred that KMV will continue to meet global standards which will help students gain an edge and touch new horizons.
