KMV to organize a two-day National Symposium on Nanomaterials on February 22-23, 2019

Prof GB Kothiyal Leading Scientist at Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai to deliver Keynote Address
Jalandhar February 21 (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Hertitage and Autonomus institution, Jalandhar’s Post Graduate Department of Physics is organizing a National Symposium on Nanostructure Materials: Structure Properties and Applications (NSNM-19) from 22nd to 23rd February, 2019. Throwing light on it, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the symposium is sponsored by National level funding agencies like Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and Council of Scientific and Industrial research (CISR). She also said that it is being organized in association with Material Research Society of India(MRSI) subject group: Ceramics and glass for which there is a special session for research papers. This symposium has also been funded by Glass Industry, “Gujarat Borosil Limited”. The keynote speaker of the symposium will be Prof. G.P. Kothiyal who is an acclaimed scientist at Bhaba Atomic Research Center, Mumbai. Other resource persons are Dr. Fouran Singh from Inter University Acceleration Centre (IUAC), Delhi, Dr. Ramandeep Singh Johal from Indian Institute of Scientific Education and Research (IISER), Mohali, Dr. Ravi Kumar from NIT Hamirpur, Dr. S. Murugavel from Delhi university, Dr. O.P. Pandey from Thapar Institue of Engineering and Technology, Dr. Hitesh Sharma from Inder Kumar Gujaral (IKG) PTU Kapurthala and Dr. Atul Khanna from GNDU. Amristar. There will also be poster session in which delegates will display their research findings on Nanomaterials, Ceramics and glasses. Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi further maintained that this symposium is being organized with the aim to attract researchers as well as industrial professionals to communicate and share the latest developments in the dynamics and ever growing field of Nano-materials and related applications. Physics Department of the College has always been at forefront, being a DST- FIST supported Department, covered under Star Status by DBT, and had organized many National and International symposia in previous years also. It is running M.Sc. Physics programme with 30 seats and is introducing B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics from next session. She congratulated Mrs. Parminder, Head PG Department of Physics and the whole faculty for having taken the initiative of organizing the symposium.
