KMV Hall of Fame bears testimony to the great temple of learning’s contribution to women empowerment
Jalandhar June 25 (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, ranked No.1 College in India by India Today ranking, Jalandhar has been the champion crusader for the cause of women empowerment and education since its inception in 1886. Being the premier women college of North India, KMV stands tall by dint of its glorious heritage and equally glorious present. Under the committed stewardship of the founder father Lala Dev Raj ji and his illustrious successors Rai Bahudur Badri Dass, Smt. Savitri Devi, Smt. Shanno Devi, KMV had a meteoric rise and is nationally and internationally acclaimed educational institution. throwing light on the Hall of Fame, Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the photographs and precious relics dating back to almost 3 centuries has been displayed with pride and reverence in the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was conceived almost a decade ago with the noble intent of showcasing the rare and cherished moments and achievements of KMV. The mural displaying the historic moments witnessed by KMV adorns the wall’s of Hall of Fame. The photographs of first graduates and the initial batches are well preserved here. A wall adorns the photographs of famous alumnae which includes names like Smt. Ambika Soni, Late. Smt. Surinder Kaur Badal, Mrs. Nirmal Milkha Singh and many noted doctors, writers, bankers etc. It was the students of KMV who handed over the National Flag to Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru at the time of declaration of Puran Swaraj and the pictures of this time are a valuable historical relic. KMV is the glorious institution which has hosted the visit of five Presidents ( Dr Rajendra Prasad, Dr Radhakrishnan, Shri Fakhrudin Ali Ahmad, Giani Zail Singh & Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Azad) and five Prime Ministers (Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, Smt. Indira Gandhi, Shri Morarji Desai, Sh Atal Bihari Vajpayee & Sh Inder Kumar Gujral) of India, along with a galaxy of acclaimed national leaders and illustrious luminaries. The photographs of their visits are a prized possession of Hall of Fame. On the very entrance the quotes of the various luminaries of the stature of Mahatma Gandhi, Vallabhbhai Patel, Sarojini Naidu, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam are etched. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi maintained that the collecting and procuring of rare photographs was indeed a herculean task and the alumni have played a pivotal role in providing their alma mater with some extraordinary precious relics. KMV’s Hall of Fame bespeaks of the glory of this glorious institution.
