KMV’s P.G. Dept.of Fashion Designing’s Two -Day Exhibition-cum-Sale-Prayaas Concludes Successfully

Jalandhar November 3 (Jaswinder Azad)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya – the Heritage & Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar’s P.G. Dept. of Fashion Designing two-day exhibition-cum-sale Prayaas concluded successfully at Shangri-La hotel. On the first day the exhibition was inaugurated by DC, Jalandhar, Sh Varinder Kumar Sharma and his wife Mrs Parveen Sharma, Mrs Neerja Chandar Mohan (Member KMV Managing Committee), Dr Sushma Chawla (Vice President KMV Managing Committee), Dr Sushma Chopra (Secretary KMV Managing Comittee), Mrs Anuradha Sondhi (Member KMV Managing Committee) and Dr Deepali Luthra (Member KMV Managing Committee). It was an enterprise aimed at achieving the ‘Earn While you Learn’ theme which is the hallmark feature of academics related to skill development at K.M.V. Many of the products sold were hand-made by the students themselves. The other products were purchased selectively and creatively keeping their salability and profits in mind. The exhibition which is an annual feature is getting bigger and better every year. The young budding entrepreneurs sold a wide variety of fancy diyas, gift packings, jewellery, Suits, Sarees, Kurtis, torans, bed-sheets, cushion covers, shirts, towels-set, masks, file folders, wall-hangings, wax & gel candles etc. It was like a Diwali-bazaar come alive under one roof. The customers went back full hands with a smile of satisfaction on their faces and left appreciative comments in the visitor’s book at the sales counter. The proceeds would go to the Poor Student Fund of the college. It is worth mentioning here that significant to mention that KMV was the first college to be awarded Kaushal Kendra by UGC and under this Kendra a number of B.Voc and M.Voc courses are running successfully in the college. KMV is the only college to have been awarded M.Voc courses in Animation & VFX, Retail Management and Textile Design & Apparel Technology. The students of all these courses got an opportunity to showcase their talents in this exhibition. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that this type of initiative motivates the students to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and provides them a platform to display their talents in front of the whole world. She also lauded the efforts of Mrs. Harpreet Kaur, Ms. Amarjot Kaur, Ms. Tarandeep Kaur, Dept. of Fashion Designing, Ms Neeti Kapoor, Ms Mani and Ms Latika.
