Jalandhar September 28 (Jaswinder Azad)- Centre for Historical Studies, Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated the 111th birthday of legendary martyr S. Bhagat Singh on its premises. A debate was held on the life and Ideology of Bhagat Singh. The function was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra. In his address, he inspired the students to follow the path shown by righteous persons like Bhagat Singh. Dr. Suman Chopra, Director, Centre for Historical Studies, going down the memory lane highlighted the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh in the Indian independence struggle. Students participated in large numbers and a healthy debate was ensued. The focus of the debate was on the relevance of the Bhagat Singh’s ideology in the present times. Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar, Head of the PG Department of Punjabi, also shared his views and urged the students to become voracious readers like Bhagat Singh. Dr. Karanbir Singh moderated the entire debate. On this occasion, Prof. Prabh Dayal, Prof. Sandeep Kaur, Prof. Suraj Bhagat was also present. Dr. Amandeep Kaur adjudged the performances of the students. Amritlajpal Singh, Navdeep and Jagdeep Singh were selected as best speakers.
