NEW PASSPORT OFFICE AT JALANDHAR READY; TO BE OPERATIONAL FROM MONDAY- RPO

• SAYS PEOPLE COULD AVAIL THE SERVICES AT NEW PASSPORT OFFICE NEAR GST BHAWAN OPPOSITE BUS STAND
• REITERATES COMMITMENT TO PROVIDE PASSPORT RELATED SERVICE TO PEOPLE
Jalandhar December 1 (Jaswinder Azad)- In good news for the residents of the region, the new Regional Passport Office (RPO), Jalandhar was fully ready and would be operational for imparting quality services to the people from Monday (December 3) as the shifting of the office has already started.
Divulging the details, Regional Passport Officer Mr. Harmanbir Singh Gill said that the shifting of the RPO has already started and from Monday onwards the office would be functional in the New Passport Office Building SCO No. 42-51, Pocket-I opposite Bus Stand in the city. He said that the building was near the newly constructed GST Bhawan adding that all the services would be provided by the department to the people from this building. Mr. Gill said that the shifting of the records has been already started and the process would be completed by Monday.
Reiterating the firm commitment of his office for better service of the people, Mr. Gill said that for details related to passport services, the same website or the national call centre toll free number 1800-258-1800 could be contacted. Likewise, the Regional Passport Officer said that even people could contact at email- rpojalandhar@mea.gov.in or could contact on 0181-2242114 or 0181-2242115.
Pertinently, there were three Passport Sewa Kendras in Jalandhar city working under the Regional Passport Office which receive 2200-2400 applications for miscellaneous services from the region daily. The Regional Passport Office, which caters to need of Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Kapurthala, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Moga district and Police district Batala, had received 4.64 lakh applications in year 2017 out of which 4.59 lakh passport and miscellaneous services were rendered to people. This year the Regional Passport Office has set a target of providing services to more than 5 lakh people.
