PG Department of Punjabi of Lyallpur Khalsa College organized a special memorial lecture

Jalandhar February 14 (Jaswinder Azad)- PG Department of Punjabi organized a special memorial lecture as a tribute to eminent literary personality Bakhshish Singh Nijjar. The seminar was participated in by, Mr. Mota Singh Sarai as the chief guest. College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries joining him on the stage which included Mr. Chetan Singh Khalsa, Er. Bhupinder Singh Nijjar, Chief Orator Prof. Arinder Singh, Sant Manjit Singh and Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar, Head PG Department of Punjabi. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra recalled the immense contribution of Bakhshish Singh Nijjar to the literary circles and described him as a great thinker and historian of the region. On behalf of the college, Dr. Samra vowed to contribute to the preservation of valuable literary legacies of Bakhshish Singh Nijjar. As the chief orator for this program, Prof. Arinder Singh highlighted the multi dimensional facets of Bakhshish Singh Nijjar’s personality that are still so clearly visible in his works and his editing skills were also lauded with a special reference to his editing of ‘Heer-Vaaris’. Overseas writer Surinder Singh Sunnad and Niranjan Singh Saathi also presented their views on this occasion. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra honored the dignitaries and thanked them for their valuable presence on this occasion. The program witnessed by a sizeable number of faculty members and students was anchored from the stage by Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar, Head PG Department of Punjabi and Dr. Surinderpal Mand.
