ORGANIZES FUNCTION AT NATIVE VILLAGE OF MARTYR POLICE PERSONNEL
Jalandhar October 15 (Jaswinder Azad)- Upholding the tradition of remembering its martyrs, the Police department and residents of Bolina village on Monday paid rich tributes to constable Charanjeet Lal (22) in his native village Bolina of the district, who got martyrdom on July 16, 1990, while fighting the anti-national elements in Harike, Tarn Taran district.
A function was organized in Government Senior Secondary School in Bolina where the martyr had cleared +2 and got recruited in the department on December 16, 1989.
Superintendent of Police Mr. HS Benipal, DSPs Mr. Tarsem Singh Randhawa, Mr. Jogeshwar Singh Goraya, martyr’s brothers Mr. Om Prakash, Mr. Ram Murti and others paid floral tributes to Mr. Lal.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Benipal said that no one can forget the courage and sacrifice of Lal who sacrificed his life for the country in the age of just 22 and called him a real role model for the youths.
He exhorted the teachers and villagers to make students and youths aware about the life of Lal so that they can follow his footsteps and serve the country in the future he was ‘one of the real heroes’ of the country.
He told that martyrs would always be remembered as they laid down their lives to maintain law and order in the state. Mr. Benipal informed that Punjab Police had a proud history where it made full efforts to eliminate terrorism in the state during the 1980s.
SP also added around 2719 Officers and Jawans of Punjab police had martyred while fighting for the country’s unity and integrity during the last few decades.
On the occasion, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mr. Amarjeet Singh who was among the team in which Lal fought with anti-social elements and got martyred, also talked about latter’s sacrifice. Singh had sustained serious bullet injuries on his legs in the counter operation.
