Seminar on Breast Cancer Awareness organized at HMV

Jalandhar November 24 (Jaswinder Azad)- Forming a part of the worldwide initiative to curb the menace of breast cancer, the Student Council in collaboration with Red Cross Society organized a One day Seminar on Breast Cancer Awareness under the dynamic directions of Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen. The keynote speaker Dr. Ruchi Bhargava and the resource person, Dr. Rupinder Bhargava were offered green greetings by Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen, Mrs. Urvashi Mishra (Dean Student Council and Co-ordinator) and Mrs. Deepshikha (Co-Coordinator). In her welcome address, Principal Dr. Sareen extolled the ethical standards maintained by the Bhargava couple. She further prompted the students to be the agent of change and ambassadors of HMV to spread awareness for the deadly disease. She advised the students to shed their hesitation and help to eradicate this black spot.
Dr. Ruchi Bhargava gave a comprehensive presentation on general well-being of women and focused on the importance of exercise and balanced diet. Dr. Rupinder Bhargava emphasized that it is crucial to diagnose the breast cancer at initial stages to save the country from the irreparable loss it causes. He briefed the students on the tips to detect the lumps, prevention and treatment of breast cancer. He dismantled the myths and taboos related to the disease and advised the students to consult the doctors immediately if they find any of the symptoms of it.
There were around 80 participants in the seminar and 18 papers were presented by the faculty members, students and participants from other institutions. The judges Mrs. Savita Mahindru, Dr. Nitika Kapoor and Mrs. Jyotika Minhas adjudged Bhavya Middha and Shipra Rana’s papers as Best papers.
The vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Urvashi Mishra. The stage was conducted by PG Head Girl Gulfam Virdi and UG Head Girl Geetanjali. Dr. Aarti, Mrs. Neeta Malik, Mrs. Lovleen. Ms. Deepali and Ms. Harpreet were also present on the occasion.
