TEAM OF VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS MEETS FARMERS OF SEVEN VILLAGES, APPRISE THEM ABOUT STRAW MANAGEMENT

Jalandhar October 30 (Jaswinder Azad)- As part of its drive to check stubble burning and exhort the farmers for adopting paddy straw management, a team of district administration from various departments held a meeting with the farmers of seven villages and encouraged them to manage the residues with in-situ techniques.
The farmers from Talwan, Burj Hassan, Gadra, Bhoda, Hardo Sangha, Powadra and Gag Dhagara participated in the meeting.
Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) Chief Environment Engineer Mr GS Majithia accompanied by Superintendent Environment Engineer Mr Harbir Singh, Naib Tehsildar Harbans Lal, Agriculture Officer Mr. Arun Kohli, Agriculture Development Officer Mr. Gursahib Singh, Mr. Sukhdev Singh from PSPCL and others explained the farmers about schemes of Punjab Government in depth.
The officials told them to avail the In-Situ machines from the custom hiring centres or co-operative societies. They further discussed working and benefits of the happy seeder, Rotavator, Paddy cutter cum shredder, Paddy chopper cum shredder and mulchers.
Moreover, the team also detailed the farmers about I-Khet machine mobile which gives the latter access to agricultural machinery that enables them to manage crop residues.
The farmers also revealed the team about the problems being faced by them in their villages including electricity on which PSPCL ensured them to sort out the issue. The farmers also suggested that the awareness regarding the schemes should be started before two months of harvesting season.
Later, the team members also visited the fields of these villages where the stubble was being managed with the help of machines.
