Jalandhar July 27 (Jaswinder Azad)- A cultural program on the occasion of famous Punjabi event ‘Teeyaan Da Mela’ was organized by the ‘Centre for Punjabi Sabhyachar and Lokdhara’ under the aegis of PG Department of Punjabi, Lyallpur Khalsa College. Ashika Jain (IAS) Joint Commissioner, MC Jalandhar and Navneet Kaur Bal (PCS) SDM, Sultanpur Lodhi, were the chief guests for the program. Sardarni Balbir Kaur, President Governing Council welcomed the dignitaries with a bouquet of flowers whilst Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra put forth the formal welcome note for the chief guests. Addressing the audience, College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra informed that such events for the welfare of girls are held on priority basis as per the instructions of Sardarni Balbir Kaur, President, Governing Council. He also expressed his best wishes to the girl students for their academic, cultural and other endeavors. Students from the college put forth various cultural and entertaining colourful performances including Gidha, Bhangra, Tappey and Mahiya. The program was aimed at encouraging the Punjabi lifestyle and also to spread awareness regarding the importance of women in our society as the dignitaries also joined in the cultural and folk displays. Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar, HOD Punjabi thanked the chief guests for their presence and urged the students to follow their lead. The event was duly enjoyed by one and all and the stage for the same was befittingly orchestrated by Dr. Harjinder Singh Sekhon, Coordinator, ‘Centre for Punjabi Sabhyachar and Lokdhara’.
