The Performance of Merchant of Venice Play at KMV Leaves the Audience Spell Bound

KMV Leaves the Audience Spell BoundJalandhar August 23 (Gurkirat Singh)- Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-The Heritage and Autonomous Institution, Ranked No 1 in India by India Today Ranking, 2019 staged a classic play of William Shakespeare The Merchant of Venice in Punjabi at the college’s auditorium. The Chief Guest for the event was Sh. Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal. The event was attended by a large number of students besides faculty members of the college. The play is directed by Ms Vijeta, a former student of KMV who is now pursuing her Masters from North Eastern University, Boston under Student Cultural Exchange Program. It is pertinent to mention that the translation of the play in Punjabi and the dialogues of the play has been also done by Vijeta. All the students who enacted in this play were also the students of KMV. The students who were performing in the play enacted their roles with very ease and perfection. The performance left the audience spell bound. Sh. Chander Mohan averred that the plays of Shakespeare contains a lot of wisdom and it is always a learning experience for all of us to watch the enactment of the play. He further maintained that KMV always encourages the students to take part in the extracurricular activities like theatre, art, singing, dance etc. within and outside the college. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the KMV has provided full-fledged infrastructure facilities in the college itself and the students can make the best use of it. Ample opportunities are made available for students to develop their God-given talents in different capacities. She lauded the performance of the director and all the artists who made the play flawless and technically accurate. She also lauded Mrs Seema Jain, Dr Madhumeet, Dr Gurjot and Dr Harpreet for successfully organizing the event. Ms Vijeta was also honoured by the esteemed chief guest for her efforts.
