TRAINING UNDER BUDDY PROGRAM FOR THE MASTER TRAINERS ORGANIZED IN GOVERNMENT GIRLS SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN NEHRU GARDEN

Jalandhar November 12 (Jaswinder Azad)- The district administration on Monday organized training for the master trainers of Buddy program in Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Nehru Garden. Buddy program has been launched by Punjab Government to spread the awareness about drugs in the grassroots levels of the society.
SDM-1 Mr Sanjeev Sharma said that every educational institute would form a group from the sixth class called ‘Buddy’ and above.
This group would involve three to five students in it, he told and added the class teachers would be senior buddy whereas the principals of institutes would act as super buddy and oversee all the activities in their institutes.
Mr. Sharma disclosed that each institute would appoint a nodal officer who would be a bridge between the administration and the institute. He said that buddy group would devote 30-40 minutes every week to create awareness about drug menace.
He further told that Buddy group would discuss harmful effects of drugs from time to time and also identifies signs of drug use among peer group and encourages not indulging in drug abuse.
Mr. Sharma also informed the master trainers regarding strategies to be adopted by professors and teachers, so as to motivate their students to remain away from drugs.
On the occasion, Mr. Iqbal Randhawa, Sub-inspector Gurdeep Kaur, Mr. Daljit Singh, Mr. Rampal and others were present.
