Jalandhar February 19 (Gurkirat Singh)- Bioinformatics is a rapidly emerging field with applications in the field of Agriculture, Food Science and Medical Sciences. Keeping in view the importance of this discipline in various facets of life, the Department of Bioinformatics, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar has been playing an important role in training the human resource of the region in the area of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics. In another such effort, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar is going to organize an International Conference titled “Indian Conference on Bioinformatics 2019 (Inbix’19)” from 22nd February 2019 to 23rd February 2019. First of its kind in Punjab, this conference is being organized in collaboration with the Bioclues Society (www.bioclues.org) and is partially funded by the Science & Engineering Research Board, Department of Science & Technology (SERB-DST), Government of India. More than 200 delegates from all around the world are coming to be part of this mega event. Prof. N. Sirinivasan, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalor and Prof.Haja Kadarmideen, Technical University of Denmark, Denmark will be the keynote speakers. There will be an ideation challengewhere students have been an opportunity to give their innovative solutions to some typical research problems. Sh. B. Purushartha, IAS will be the chief guest for the inaugural function while the valedictory function will be chaired by Dr. T. S. Benipal, Dean, College Development Council, GNDU, Amritsar. There will also be a pre-conference workshop on “Big Data and Agricultural Bioinformatics” on 21st February, 2019. On the spot registrations can also be done to attend this conference.
