World Radio Day celebrated in HMV

Jalandhar February 13 (Jaswinder Azad)- The PG department of Mass Communication of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized an interactive session on Radio Programming on the occasion of World Radio Day. On this occasion, Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur Sarai, RJ from Red FM, Canada was the resource person. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and Head of the department Mrs. Rama Sharma welcomed her with a planter.
During her interaction with the students of department, Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur said that this day gives an opportunity to honour the role radio plays is bringing communities together and promoting a positive dialogue for change. As she is known as the ‘heart’ of Red FM in Canada, she motivated the students to opt for this field as presenter or script writer because it helps us to grow and earn fame worldwide. She also focussed upon writing skills and encouraged students to read as much literature as possible. She also differentiated between the rules and ways of presentation in India and Canada. She also gave tips about writing context for this particular media. She said that one should be outgoing and confident and have the ability to engage with an audience. She advised them to stay calm under pressure. It is important to be creative and flexible. She also answered queries of the students regarding Radio Broadcasting.
On this occasion, Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said this day aims to raise awareness among the public and the media about the importance of radio and the department of the college aim to provide hands on experience in Radio broadcasting through its campus Radio ‘Radio Awaaz’. She congratulated the faculty and students on the occasion of World Radio Day. The stage was conducted by Mrs. Jyoti Sehgal and the vote of thanks was presented by HOD Mrs. Rama Sharma. On this occasion, Mr. Shailendra Kumar was also present.
