ADC FLAGS OFF RALLY TO SPREAD AWARENESS AGAINST PADDY STRAW BURNING
Jalandhar October 15 (Jaswinder Azad)- Aimed to eliminate the stubble burning from Punjab, the Youth Services department carried out an awareness rally under mission Tandarust Punjab and made the people aware about ill-effects of straw burning on Monday.
The rally was flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh along with Assistant Director (Youth Services) Mr Gurkaran Singh Rania.
More than 780 students from various educational institutes include DAV college, HMV college, Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, Government Senior Secondary School Gandhi Camp, Governmet Model Senior Secondary School (Boys) Ladowali road, Sain Dass AS Senior Secondary School, Lala Jagat Narain DAV Model School and Government Cantonment Board Senior Secondary School (Boys) participated in the rally.
Addressing the gathering, ADC asked the student to apprise the people about the harmful effects of the paddy straw burning. He said that paddy straw burning could pose a serious danger to environment and human health. He asked the students to persuade the the farmers to avail the subsidies offered by the state government to ensure paddy straw management to enhance the fertility of soil in an organic way.
The students also distributed pamphlets and posters showcasing the ill effects of paddy straw burning.
